Allister born in Belfast in 1977 is a senior detailer for a structural steel engineering firm. Playing drums as a much loved hobby Allister got his first kit at the age of 2. He broke the individual drumming marathon in 2003 playing for 58 hours and 17mins, inviting him to sign the 100 millionth copy of the Guinness Book of Records along with many other record breakers. In 2004 he then achieved 78 hours in a drum marathon. In 2008 Allister broke the world record standing at 86 hours by playing for 102 hours and 49 minutes. Allister has also reached the 100 hour mark as a group in Portugal 2017 when 5 drummers from around the world met up and played together for the full 100 hours. All record attempts raising thousands of pounds for many charities close to his heart. Also doing snare drum rolls, one of which lasted 22 hours in 2016 in memory of his cousin who passed away of neuroblastoma at the age of 7. Along with other drumming world record attempts Allister has played with many local bands such as Universal Remedy, Duncan Campbell and Duty Paid Society, Superfiction having the privilege to support The Futureheads, The Pigeon Detectives and Supergrass. In 2019 Allister played a 24 hour drum marathon on 13th April for the NHS and Keyworkers raising £2500. NHS is important to Ali as his late partner was suffering with a serious cancer illness and dealing with treatment over the last 3 years. Sharon passed away in Jan 2021. Allister then had the chance to took part in Drumathon Live 2020 for NHS charities together, which saw the event raise more than £45,000 for the charity. Also taking part in 2021 and 2022 Drumathon Live playing for 24 hours. Playing along side the likes of drummers from Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, Simple Minds, The Kooks, The Feeling, Hans Zimmer, Kasabian, Imagination, Odyssey, Spice Girls, Jamiroquai, The Cure etc etc 2023 Allister is back with the Drumathon family, which keeps getting bigger and bigger. The event taking place in Lisburn Northern Ireland is a Guinness World Record for the Longest Individual Drumming Marathon. An attempt to play for 150 hours. Ali is more focused than ever to help others and raise awareness / money for various charities through his drumming.
