My true function in life is playing drums as Lui Q for hard rock band BAD ACTRESS. I realised this after starting the band with my brother Chick in 2017. Before that we were in a hard core punk trio called Civil Punk, with our third sibling Vinnie. We started that band when I was just nine after winning a local talent show. We toured all over Scotland for three years before winding down the punk as we wound up the hard rock. With BAD ACTRESS we toured around Scotland until the dark days of pandemic lockdown, during which we managed to continue recording and releasing new material and growing our online following. In mid 2021, we started touring again with renewed vigour, going further afield into England and Wales and ending the year with a main stage show at Winterstorm Festival in Troon and a four-date headline tour in Scotland. 2022 was the band’s busiest year yet, with a continuous string of festivals, support slots and headline shows all over Scotland, England and Wales. Two UK tours supporting the legendary Marco Mendoza; headlining the second stage of the O2 Academy in Sheffield at the Hard Rock Hell Sleaze festival; playing Monsterfest in Inverness; and opening for Gun in Aberdeen were just a few of the many highlights. As we get into 2023, the craziness I love so much looks set to continue, with tours and festival slots lined up around the UK and a heap of new material in the pipeline to record and release.
