Steve has been playing drums for more years than he cares to remember. He had his first drum kit, a junior one, not a toy one, when he was not quite 4 years old. He started to play live in his early teens and has continued to do so, year on year. Initially self-taught, Steve realised that the only way he was going to reach a higher standard of playing and improve his technique, was to get professional help. A few years of weekly lessons, studying and practising, allowed him to develop as a musician and has helped him play a wider variety of music styles. Over the years, Steve has played on a number of recordings, with various bands and singers as well as recording sessions for Radio 1, including The Friday Rock Show and for local radio stations, in England and Wales. He has played in most of the major concert venues in the UK, as well as various venues and festivals in Europe, Playing in original Rock, AOR, Progressive rock, blues bands, classic rock covers, mainstream covers bands, also Metallica and Rory Gallagher tribute acts. Steve has been with the Sons Of Liberty, since its inception. The band has developed, into one of the best live acts on the circuit and this has Steve to progress further into the all round drummer you see at their live shows and on their recordings. At their headline shows, you will usually see Steve behind a double bass drum kit. Either his red Pearl, or satin natural maple Gretsch, surrounded by an array of cymbals. Since 2019, Steve opted to use LDC for his personalised drumsticks and has never looked back.
