Alex Martin started playing drums after he was put into in-school detention for tapping on the desks and driving the teachers crazy! “My dad had heard I’d gotten in trouble for tapping and instead of punishing me he got his old Ludwig set out and I began to learn how to play drums!” Alex was soon into all sorts of bands and playing covers with his older brother Adam. “I loved Metallica when I was growing up in the 1990s and My brother loved Nirvana, so we started a cover band doing those songs”. Having an older brother lead to the eventual path Alex would go down as he was exposed to The Ramones, Black Flag, Descendents , The Queers and Screeching Weasel. “I’m a big comic book fan, so when I heard a band playing the Spider-Man theme song I was sold! That band was the Ramones and I was hooked forever!!” In 1997 Alex joined the punk rock band Teenage Rehab and the band began to tour , record and build a following. In 2010 after years of touring and recording, Alex was tapped by punk rock legends The Queers to record their album “Back To The Basement”. A short time later, Alex earned the nickname Hog Log and joined the Queers as their full time drummer. Hog Log has been recording albums and touring worldwide with The Queers for over a decade now and there are no plans to slow down!!
