Why a Practice Pad Makes All the Difference
Even the most experienced players know that time on a pad is never wasted. Whether you're warming up before a gig, chipping away at a tricky rudiment or simply keeping your hands sharp between rehearsals, a quality practice pad gives you focused, repeatable reps without disturbing everyone around you. As drummers ourselves, we only stock pads we'd actually use.
Low Rebound vs Standard Feel — Which is Right for You?
This is the key choice when browsing practice pads. A low-rebound surface, like the one on our Workout Pad, resists the stick more than a snare drum would, forcing your hands and wrists to work harder. Over time this builds genuine strength and control, and many players find their kit playing feels effortless once they've put in serious time on a low-rebound pad. It's a particularly good shout if you want to push your technique to the next level or recover from an injury carefully.
A standard rubber surface — as found on our 10" Practice Pad — offers a feel closer to a real drum head. It's responsive and forgiving, making it ideal for warming up quickly before a gig or for younger players still developing their touch. The octagonal shape on our 10" pad also adds a bit of extra stability on a desk or snare stand, so it won't wander mid-practice.
Size and Portability
Both pads in our range are sized for practicality. A 10–10.5 inch surface is widely regarded as the sweet spot for focused hand work — large enough to feel natural, compact enough to slip into a gig bag or backpack. If you're travelling between venues or studios regularly, this portability is genuinely useful.
Surface and Build Quality
Look for a thick shock-absorbing upper if you plan on extended practice sessions — it keeps noise down and protects the pad over time. A solid wooden base adds stability and means the pad sits firmly on any surface without creeping around.

Questions answered
A low-rebound pad resists the stick more than a typical drum head, making your hands and wrists work harder and building strength over time. A standard rubber surface feels closer to a real snare drum and is great for warm-ups and general technique work.
